Samantha Clark (fka Gotfredson) is a San Diego artist who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach in 2015. With a specialization in traditional illustration, Samantha excelled in classes that involved drawing and painting detailed and realistic renderings. While trained in a variety of media, she uses acrylic paint for her custom paintings. Samantha currently works as a Paralegal for a local Family Law Firm by day, and she paints on the weekends.
Samantha’s love of nature and animals are what inspire her to paint and when she is painting nothing else in the world matters. While growing up, her family went on annual vacations to beautiful Montana. Breathtaking scenes of the seemingly endless pine trees that blanket the state has inspired her to appreciate the interactions of colors in nature and how they complement one another. She knew at an early age she was going to be an artist. She favors these color interactions over individual colors and is intrigued by their limitless possibilities. Samantha strives to achieve semi-realistic paintings of high contrast and textural variety with accents of bold color engaging the viewer’s eye across the canvas. Some would also classify her paintings as Hyper-realistic. With her formal illustrative training along with her love of animals, nature and exaggerated color, Samantha strives to capture the unique characteristics of each subject she paints.
